Target Applications
• Pneumatic Tool Powering: Concurrently driving up to 3 heavy-duty paving breakers, jackhammers, or rock drills.
• Fiber Optic Micro-Cable Blowing: Providing steady, pulsation-free air for localized cable jetting lines.
• Road Demolition & Repair: Powering asphalt cutters and handheld air lances for crack sealing preparation.
• Lightweight Sandblasting: Excellent for localized graffiti removal, stone cleaning, and metal scaling.
Key Features & Benefits
Ultra-Lightweight & Sub-750kg Towing
• No Special License Required: Weighing less than 750 kg (fully fueled), it can be easily towed behind a standard vehicle, making fleet logistics effortless and reducing transit costs.
• Compact Footprint: Easily maneuvered and parked by a single operator on tight urban roads or crowded sidewalks.
Indestructible HardHat® Canopy
• Impact Resistant: Encased in Atlas Copco’s signature HardHat® polyethylene canopy. It won’t dent, scratch, or rust like traditional steel boxes, preserving high resale value.
• Gull-Wing Design: The dual-wing canopy pops open in seconds, offering 100% unhindered access to all daily maintenance points.
Fuel-Efficient Kubota Engine Reliability
• Heavy-Duty Heart: Powered by the globally trusted Kubota V1505 engine, known for effortless cold starts, low emissions, and minimal fuel consumption.
• Anti-Air Lock System: Guaranteed continuous operation even on steep slopes or rough construction terrain.
Design Features
Oil-Injected Screw Compression
The compressor element uses two screw rotors to produce a continuous supply of compressed air. Oil injection supports sealing, cooling, and lubrication within the compression process.
Diesel-Powered Mobility
An integrated diesel engine allows the compressor to operate independently of a fixed electrical power supply. This is useful for temporary work locations and projects where equipment needs to move between sites.
Protective Canopy
The Series 8 design described in the manufacturer’s instruction manual uses a durable polyethylene canopy with sound-absorbing material inside. The enclosure protects internal components while supporting practical operation in outdoor working environments.
Automatic Air Regulation
A pneumatic regulation system adjusts compressor output in response to changes in air demand. This helps the machine supply air according to the requirements of connected equipment within its operating limits.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
They are the exact same compressor. XAS 88 is the global metric designation based on its ~5.0 m³/min air delivery, while XAS 175 is the imperial naming used primarily in North America representing its 175 CFM flow rate. KD8 indicates it belongs to the 8-Series powered by a Kubota engine.
They belong to the same Series 8 family, but the complete model designation and engine configuration should be checked before assuming that their specifications or parts are identical.
Provide the complete compressor model, serial number, and part number if available. This helps identify compatible filters, lubricants, maintenance kits, and other service components.
The HardHat® canopy is made of ultra-tough linear low-density polyethylene. Unlike steel, it does not rust when exposed to rain or salt air, it resists heavy impacts without denting, and its color is embedded throughout the material so scratches remain invisible.
The XAS 88 comes standard with 3 air outlets. It provides enough volume and pressure to concurrently power up to 2 to 3 medium-sized handheld jackhammers, air lances, or pneumatic tamping tools without any loss of performance.
Equipped with a 60-liter fuel tank and paired with the highly optimized Kubota engine, the XAS 88 is designed to comfortably run a continuous, full 8-hour work shift under 100% full load conditions before needing a refill.
